it's got to be a bad disc, i decrypted that movie last night(9/3) with decrypter, didn't have to use AnyDVD at all.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

yeah, with Interpreter i think i just used DVD Shrink on it's own, can't remember exactly, but at worst i would have used DVD Decrypter..

Your disc is either to dirty or to scratched for your drive to read it properly. Clean it first before trying to rip it.

A CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) error is DVD Shrink's and/or DVD Decrypter's way of telling you that it cannot read the disc (DVD). It is caused from the disc being to dirty (fingerprints, smudges, etc.) or being to scratched. First, try cleaning the DVD. You can try toothpaste, carwax, or pledge to lessen the severity of the scratches. (By no means am I saying that you will totally restore the DVD back to original condition, all your doing is just trying to get DVD Shrink to successfully read it.) If DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter still generates this error message, I suggest returning the original for a different copy.

Before you return it, try using the latest version of DVD Decrypter. The latest Version is Currently: Version 3.5.4.0 Get it here: http://mrbass.org/dvdrip/

Use DVD Decrypter to "rip" the DVD to your hard drive in "File" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "All files" (NOT "movie files").

Then use DVD Shrink to "Open files" (NOT "Open Disk") - and select "VIDEO_TS.IFO" or the actual "VIDEO_TS" folder.

this movie just came out today (10/4/05) how is it that you got a copy prior to today? sounds a little suspicious.

i hope you don't think that i have nothing else to do but to come to this forum to post lies. there are ways(for some people)to getting movies before the "regular"people. hint, the stores get the movies the thursday before the tuesday that are released. once again, decrypter/shrink/decrypter to burn does just fine.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

i'm in no way an expert on these things but, i know that some of the latest movies(with Arcoss) are difficult to back up. encryptions in movies to come will get even harder to handle so, i recomend to those who do not have then yet, three aplications that soon will become a, most have; anydvd(the best decrypter out there), fabDecrypter(free or the $ one) and/or dvd95copy(the express cost $20). these applications are updated as soon as new encryptions comes out(anydvd is the best one at this). having said all that, the great Decrypter will never die. just use it with AnyDVD in the background for, there is not a better ripper out there.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

jfm, I rented Ella Enchanted when it came out.. was one of the first customers in the store and got an unplayed but unplayable DVD. Apparently the DVD came off the center in the case and scratched badly enough to cause it to skip and freeze. Stuff like that happens all the time.. the DVD comes loose and when the rental store gets it they don't look, just hook it back in and stick it on the shelf.

Hey people, I backed up The Interpreter today to my hard drive using nothing but SHRINK, DVD43, & Nero and did so without a hitch. I've learned that I produce a better copy to DVD-R when using NERO's Advanced Analysis and High Quality Mode. The difference is the additional files that are recorded using these modes instead of just Burn on a Fly mode make for a more stable recording and replay, Also I've found it reduces the likelyhood of pauses and pixelation.

The DVD's using these modes with Nero allow for instant start or play while Burn on a Fly seems to be a challege for my disc playerS which seems to have to 1st configuire each remote command often displaying "Cant read disc" These flaws I've seen are improved or non-existant when using the Advanced Analysis and High quality modes. (Note: It does not add much more time to the recording process). I was reading where someone was concern about early releases of DVD's.

Be advised that BlockBuster allows for it's employees to view new releases as much as 2weeks beforE the known or advertised release or viewing date. So go figure, there's your authorized leak right there. BlockBuster is always hiring.:)

I'm not by any means saying that you were a lyer....

FYI: if your friend works for a video store then he can take them home early for viewing in his own home, he cannot give the movie to you, there are huge fines for violating the street date on movies!

I read with interest the problems with the movie Interpreter. I backed up my copy using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. No problems---until I went to play it! Depending on which DVD player I play it on, I get glitches, stalls, white pixels, etc., at the beginning and middle. Now have a coaster. Have backed up other movies before and since with no problems. Does this movie have some sort of new copy protection? I do not understand how I can decrypt it fine and shrink it fine and then burn it fine, but end up with---now--two unviewable dvds(I made two copies of it.). I burned at 2x. Any ideas??

@cziembo - nope, no funny protections; that kind of problem is usually down to crap media, too high a burn speed, burning too close to edge of disc, or combinations of those. what burning program you using and what media ?...then we can go from there....

Thanks for the reply.I have copied >250 dvds and have never gotten bad ones like this. Am using Nero, v.6 I believe and have been using Sony and/or TDK DVD-R. I burn at 2x. The one thing I have recently learned to do is not burn too close to the edge. This I learned after I burned the Interpreter, tho I have not seen a real problem with any prior. I am going to try doing the interpreter over again, from scratch, and see what happens. I thought since both copies were crap, there may be a new copy protection, but if not, then obviously something went awry while doing this one movie. Perhaps just bad media?

we can but find out...

...let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

much thanks. I updated Nero and when I checked the DMA, I found two primary IDE controllers plus a secondary. the one primary had DMA on, but the other did not, and that was the one the system was apparently "use this device". I followed your link and from there uninstalled primaries and secondary, rebooted, etc. and then decrypted a dvd and burned it. checked the Nero history and DMA on. The only thing I noticed, tho---while decrypting with DVD Decrypter, it seemed to decrypt awfully fast---11k or above. Not a problem with me, but is this the result of DMA being turned on?? just wondering. In any event, please accept my thanks for the help.
