Hey everyone, I'm actually new to the forum and also new to the "PS2 Modding scene". So I do have a few questions...

Now I'm thinking of modding of my PS2 and i'm not sure on what to get. I have modded my xbox so I have some knowledge of modding but i'm not sure if that matters since we are talking about the PS2.

My questions:

Which mod chip is better? (or which would you recommend?)

Which chip can I get to have my games backed up to an Internal hard drive and boot the games off of the hard drive? If so, is it hard to set that up?

I have a V4 PS2, so will I have to buy a replacement laser or something? from what I've read the PS2 has to have some replacement parts for some chips...

At the moment, those are the only questions I can think of at the moment. But I'm sure i'll have more.

Thanks

1. Matrix Infinity, Crystal Chip, or DMS4 Pro
2.All chips should be fine, but you will have to have network adapter, HD advance or loader, but DMS4 Pro have a built in hd loader.
3. If your laser does not read properly you might be needing a new one soon.

one word of advice. If you think you'll be capable of modding the ps2 because you were able to mod your xbox, think again. The ps2 is a much more difficult soldering job than the xbox but, with patience and a steady hand you should be able to do it if you have decent soldering skills (from what I gather, not a lot of soldering skill is needed to mod an xbox). Not trying to scare you, just giving you a heads up.
