Hi there all,

I've been reading up on networking ps2 with pc for a while and really interested, thought i'd type up a check list to see if there's anything i'm missing before i begin.

Ok first things first, I have a V4 ps2 with duo 2 modchip, not sure wat effect this has on the networking situation, hoping someone could clear up for me.

Things i think i need:

Network adapter
Ps2 HDD
Ethernet cable
HDloader or HDadvance

Ok networking the ps2 to the pc seems relatively simple and getting the games on the ps2 HDD looks simple enough(oh can i do this through the router or does the ps2 need to be directly connected to ps2?)

The next step i'm a bit unsure of, i need to get an exploit program on memcard, i got a max drive can i use that, or do i need to make a disc? Then from the memcard wat do i do with the exploit, can i put it on the HDD, and how do i use the exploit to run games?

If someone could lend a hand and check my list it would be much apprieciated.

Oh and, Having a modded PS2 has wat benifits for networking ps2?

Edit: Wat effects does running different versions of games ie, PAL and NTSC can i run both of the same exploit, or do i have to choose one or the other?

well, you don't need the official sony hdd (that's what I gathered from you writing PS2 HDD) most IDE HDD are compatible (although there are some that aren't). Also, can I suggest using winhiip to transfer games to the hdd instead of networking (this will save you a lot of time).

yep, i'm looking at a maxtor drive either 20 or 40 gig depending on cash.

Having read about it even more past couple days, one main question still remains, wats the advantages to having a modchip when it comes to networking and having hdd?

Let me just double check everything one more time,

1.have adapter and hdd installed correctly, and put iso's on hdd however i decide to do it.
2.Install exploit on mc and use ps1 disc to trigger exploit
3.install elf programs on mc for watever i wanna do, say for argument sake run an iso, so that would be HDL right?
4.run iso and viola i'm done.

Fingers crossed, anything i'm missing or getting wrong pls point out, much appriciated.

For starters get a real HD. 20 Gig = 5 games, 40 Gig = 8 or 9. You need a 200 Gigger if you dont want to be deleting games on a weekly basis to install new ones. I got a 200Gig Maxtos for $85 after $40 rebate.
