i have an old bulky PS2 it slide open in the front would the swapmagic work for this PS2

Am not really sure what you mean by "it slide open in the front" but to be able to play backups with swap magic you will need either a slide card or a fliptop.

what i mean is it's not the flip top. it opens in the front

Ah OK, sorry. The easiest thing to do is get a slide card that way you don't have 2 mod yous system :)
