you used Nero right?

what size is the iso, after extracting?

Jeez this is like the 3rd FIFA O6 question I've answered today (Maybe I need to get out more lol). Hursty has a point the SEARCH box isn't there for the ambience. To rebuild it check here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/173020 To patch it go here: http://www.richpsx.com/playstation2/utilities.html

I have tried to make a backup of my original PAL fifa 06 disc 11 times now using all the rebuilding methods on this forum with no success. So i decided to download a backup ([www.solops2.com]_fifa_2006-PS2_fullDVD_pal.rar) and burned it on maxell at 2.4x with Nero. Sometimes I get a blank screen and sometimes I get 'invalid ps2 disc' when I boot with swap magic + slide card. Anyone know whether this version of fifa needs patching? thanks.

Have you tried just burning with DVD decrypter and not worrying about rebuilding? From what I have read about the PAL FIFA 06 some versions need rebuilt while other's can be copied without rebuilding. Try different media and burn speeds. Start at 4x, if that doesn't work try 8x.well you have all the right tools and its easy with dvd decrypter. Here's hiredgoon's guide:

Quick way to copy a game. Assuming you have the original game dvd and want to back it up.

step#1

open dvd decryptor then go to MODE>ISO>READ and then it will copy the game and make an iso file on your pc hdd.

Step#2

when that finishes go to MODE>ISO>WRITE and then select the iso file that decryptor just maade. It will burn the file to the dvd and presto you are done.

Simple as that.

HI GUYS, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH FIFA 06,IT FROZED WHEN STARTING A MATCH, HERE ARE THE STEPS:1: INSERT SWAP MAGIC, WHEN IT TELLS UTO LOAD PROGRAM PRESS EJECT,2:INSERT FIFA 05,WAIT 10 SEC. USETHE SLIDE CARD TO REPLACE FIFA 05 WITH FIFA 06, PRESS X AND ITS ALL GOOD!

NO NEED TO REBUILD. JUST MAKE SURE U HAVE THE ORIGINAL FIFA 05

Thanx for the help. I tried using DVD Decrypter to write the image at 4x but i got the same freeze-when-loading-game error. I don't have fifa 05 so I cant try the other method. Any other ideas?

Hmm this seems to a problem game for a lot of people. Some versions burn fine other's, well you're experiencing that now. The PAL version in particular seems to be goofy. In some regions it works okay and in other's people seem to have a hell of a time backing it up. I know this isn't much help, just trying to provide some reason why this happens. I'd say try burning at 8x. One question what kind of DVD-R are you using? You'd be amazed how often this is a cheap DVD-R problem. Also DVD-RW's don't work well in older PS2's (v.4 and earlier). Is your PS2 PAL or NTSC?

I have a NTSC version 7 ps2. I was using Maxell DVD+R 8x. I have successfully burned backups for my other games with these dvd's-- nba live 06, god of war, darkwatch, genji, devil may cry 3, psi-ops, mgs3, mvp baseball 06, madden nfl 06, alien hominid etc... so i'm not sure about the dvd quality problem.

Yeah you may still want to buy a 5 pack of anything other than Memorex and Imitation DVD-R's. I don't think it's the media though. Burning at 4x on an 8x DVD-R should work. Have you tried a straight burn with DVD Decrypter. Most of the rebuilds for FIFA 06 I have seen involved the PAL version. Try burning with DVD Decrypter: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_... Here's a tutorial: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html

Has anyone done it successfully with the normal DVD Decryptor method at a slower speed?

Please tell me the best of these methods which would be best to use?

Which one worked for anyone here?

I had no problem doing a straight back-up, no rebuild.
Used DVD Decrypter ISO Read, then DVD Decrypter ISO Write.
Wrote at 1 x speed which i found is more successful speed for any PS2 back-up.
DVD discs i always use is Ritek DVD+R x8
