With all due respect, you are not giving us anything at all to go on here.
You wrote: "when i try to back it up on a dvd i keep getting errors."
Okay. Can you perhaps enlighten us as to precisely what those errors might be? If you receive an error message, you might post it, since error messages are always trying to tell you what went wrong. It might tell us that you are using horrible blank DVDs, or that you are trying to burn too fast, or too slow, or that there was a structure problem with the files, or that you have a communication problem between the processor and the burner, or that your DVD burner's firmware is out of date, or that your DMA mode has been reset to PIO mode, or that you have a problem with your ASPI layer, or that you have some software driver conflict, or any number of other common problems. If, on the other hand, the software program locks up, or crashes, or closes, then you might tell us that, so we can try to diagnose that sort of problem. If the burn seems to be successful, but the finished product will not play in your player, then you might tell us this, so we can perhaps offer solutions to this sort of problem.
Otherwise, you have left us with literally thousands of possibilities, much like visiting a doctor and complaining that "Something is wrong."
You did mention that you were using Nero to burn, which means you always have the option of posting your Nero log here. This will typically give the regular people here everything they need in order to narrow this problem to a solution. (Just make sure you delete your serial number from the Nero log, prior to posting it.)
Respectfully,
-Bruce
