Large AVI crashes all video playing software

I have a big avi file (@ 650mb)

If I try to view it it starts out fine then the video pauses. The audio continues but eventually it locks up.
No matter what player I use (WMP, Creative Media, Nero, I get the same result. Freezes and locks up and get error message

Any help apprieciated.

I wouldn't call 650MB's big for an AVI.
Try mplayer or VLC.
