Joining VOB files together smoothly

I was wondering if anyone out there could help!

I have been trying to join two .VOB files together. Problem is, no matter what program I use, the joined file skips, or hiccups, on playback at the point it was joined together.

This happens no matter what two .VOB files I try to join.

I have tried to use the following programs, all with no success:

1. VideoReDo
2. DVD Decrypter
3. VOBEdit and IFOEdit
4. Super Video Joiner (and about a dozen other little "joining programs")

The only thing that worked seamlessly on the video is by using the following Windows command line:

copy /b vob1.vob + vob2.vob outputfile.vob

The only problem with this method is, there's no audio in the joined file!!!

Any input on this subject will be greatly appreciated!!! I've wasted way too many hours on this one!!!

That's odd, I have never had any problems with DVD Decrypter or VOBEdit. Do you need the files to be in .VOB format? If not, use either of those programs Demux functions. For DVD Decrypter, I like doing this in IFO mode. Click on the stream processing tab. Then check enable stream processing. Right click on one of the files and select "file splitting=>none. RIght click again and select "select all - demux". If will split your file into .mv2, .AC3, and .sub.

For VOBEdit, click on Demux. Then check the three check boxes on the second part of the window. Click ok and it will Demux all your vobs in 1 .mpv, .AC3, and .sup file.

If you really want VOBs, I think IFOEdit can mux them to .VOB, but you can use the elementary streams in authoring programs if you plan on going that route.

If you are trying to merge separate movies into 1 VOB, that is probably why you are getting the hiccups at the merge point. I have only tried this type of merging once when merging a 2 sided DVD.

I haven't ever had this problem with VobEdit or VideoReDo. What's the source of the VOBs? Are they from the same titleset? If they are I'd open the DVD (or DVD files) with DVD Shrink and go into the preferences to tell it not to split into 1GB pieces.
