I have used "Flash Ripper" to convert the VOB files to AVI. However this resulted in loss of quality. I'll give your suggestion a crack minion.

Thanks all

Hi Shazza81,

Anytime you convert a bigger file to smaller (i.e. VOB to avi) there will be some loss of quality. A pretty good way to rip dvds into AVI without significant quality loss is:

1. Use DVD Decrypter, select mode, choose ifo and rip just the movie to your HD.

2. Next use autogk (in the software tabs) choose size of file (somewhere between 700mb is 1 cd/ 1400mb is 2 cds, etc) and the finished product is pretty darn close as quality loss is minimal compared to other software.

to burn or not to burn that is the question
