Xenuim spice stays red

I have a 1.3 xbox,i installed the x-spice chip, but when it boots up it stays red, and on the screen it has a picture of the xenuim chip and at the top left, it says loading ide controler loading and when it is done loading it says halt and just sits there and the whole time the lights on the eject button are flashing orange and red. I would say that i installed the adapter wrong or the d0 is not in good, but i have another xbox that has xenuim chip and i took it off and put it in the new one and it works fine. Has anyone had this problem before- is there anything else i need to do to the chip.
