Winavi picture size problem on converting.

I have been using winaavi succesfully since time began but now have a problem with the latest version. On converting divx/xvid or avi files to dvd files the picture is oversized on playback as if you have zoomed in on the picture has anybody else had any probs like this? I find you chop peoples heads off and miss part of the credits as if you have pressed the zoom button on a dvd(I checked i havent done that.) Has anybody got a solution?
