Sounds like bad ripping to me, although i've never encountered such a problem before, I suggest you try to switch to another ripping program.

thanks very much, sefy...but i dont think thats the problem cuz it occured with 3 different ripping programmes (smart ripper, clad dvd and dvd decrypter...i also tried to rip only single vobs, and the result was that the first vob (vts_02_1.vob)still played at double speed while the rest was ok

my OS is windows 2000...about the aspi i do not know...i checked the adaptec site though, and there is a warning not to install aspi 4.60 on windows 2000...but again, with the exception of movies from this particular company (goldlight) ripping works perfectly...what is specific about the movies that fail is that the line of vobs is not vts_01_1.vob etc but vts_02.1.vob etc...also there are two streams about the same size (the actual size of the movie) i tried both, but with both i got the same results....i wonder if there is some kind of encyrtion or copyright protection that smartripper etc cannot decrypt properly
kind regards
wolfgang

Trust me, and ignore Adaptec's warnning, i've personaly installed it on over few dozens of 2000 and XP machines without a single problem:
Here is a link:

I've had reports from users saying it even boosts the ripping speeds on their PC's.
