I know many hate memorex, ive burned 70 movies with 4.7gb discs and most played fine. Futureshop has memorex DUAL layer discs on for 2.99 a piece, so are these good disks or junk? Im just getting sick of this transcoding or using DVDRB.

I assume that you're talking about DVD+R DL .. The Memorex are made by either Philips (junk) or Ritek (good) .. If they have a good return policy or can tell you beforehand if they're Ritek .. buy 'em

NOTE: The Memorex DVD-R DL are CMC Mag crap .. even worse than Philips!

Regardless of how good is the review on that link, I'll never never ever waste a penny on those Memosux period. Nothing beats the 2.4X - 4X Verbatim DVD+R DL at this very moment.

Newegg.com has the RiData RITEK double layers for $1.60/ea. That's the best I've seen. The memorex will probably code out the same, but these are cheaper!

Is it true that if I burn a movie on a dual layer disc and it plays fine, that ex. 3 months down the road the disc may not work at all?

that seems to hold true on CMC MAG manufactured discs, but, not so with other GOOD quality manufacturers :) just a word of caution~
