I bought a 4 way speaker selector box from radio shack. In the back of my Sony receiver I only have room for FR/FL/RR/RL/C/Sub. I also have 2 outdoor speakers that I want to hook up. The directions are very vague on how to do this. The manual is only one page long...you can view it here if you want to look at it. http://support.radioshack.com/support_audio/doc64/64931.pdf I don't understand how to hook my speakers into the selector box and how to hook it up to the receiver. In the instructions it says to hook it up to your receivers positive/negative amp. I don't have that on the back of my receiver.

Let me know if you have any questions/comments/concerns.
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

This is no problem. Proceed as follows:

1) Disconnect the FL (Front left) and FR (Front right) speakers from your Sony receiver.

2) Connect short runs of speaker cable from your Sony receiver's FL and FR outputs (where the speakers were connected) to the Left and Right inputs of the RadioShack speaker selector.

3) Connect your FL and FR speakers to postion number one(1) on the speaker selector.

4) Connect your Left and Right patio speakers to postion number four(4) on the speaker selector. (By using postion no. 4 you won't turn your patio speakers on at 3am by mistake) Place labels on the speaker selector switch for Main (No. 1) and Patio (No. 4)

5) Set your receiver to stereo 2 channel when listening to music on the patio. (You can also play just the FL and FR audio portion of movies on the patio if you leave the receiver in a surround mode, but stereo will sound better with just two (2) speakers on the patio)

Thats it, you are all set. Bob
