I just bought swap magic 3.6 with the slide card, and I've got a ps2 scph 49002.

I removed the front cover of the ps2 and put the swap magic disc in. The drive wouldn't close properly, so I pushed it a little so it would go right in.

Then on the ps2 screen it said that it couldn't read the disc (or maybe it said no data on disc, I can't remember exactly).

When I try and remove the disc by pressing the eject button, the eject button flashes blue and the drive won't open.

I've tried using the slide card to open the drive, but can't get it to work. I've read lots of posts on this forum, but can't seem to see the "white tab" that I've read people talking about.

1) is my ps2 broken - if anyone can suggest a fix, that would be great

2) any more tips on using the slide card?

thanks very much for any help - would hate to have broken my ps2 just to play a few backups!

I've been playing with it a bit more, and have partially fixed things, but still have a major problem.

I pushed the drive in a bit more (by accident) and the swapmagic program loaded up.

I've also got the slide card to work I think - it catches something, and pushes the drive tray out a little bit.

The big problem now is that the drive still won't open all the way!

Can anyone help me on making the disc drive tray open fully?

thanks very much for any help

I've opened up my playstation 2, and the drive still won't work properly - maybe someone knows of some photos of how a playstatoin 2 *should* look on the inside?

Also, when I opened it up I tried using the swap magic - but with my backups it said "please insert ps2 disc" - does that mean I've backed it up incorrectly, or could it be associated with the drive / ps2 not reading the disc properly?

thanks for any help
