Have I Killed My PS2? Help!

Hi,

My fliptop arrived today and I did everything, and then put in a game (original, not a copy) and the it just jumped/skipped...yeah, so after awhile of that I took the fliptop off and put my PS2 back to how it was before I started but still whenever I put a game in it skips/jumps/doesn't load.... have I damaged the laser or something? What should I do?

Actually, I seem to have got it to stop jumping and skipping but it still won't load. Gah.
