PS2 HDD formating???

I have a V.7 PS2 w/ DMS4 EZI Pro mod chip installed. And a Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3300831A 300GB Hard Drive.

I was told that if you have the DMS4 Pro on your PS2 you do not need HDLoader or HDAdvanced to load games from your HDD. But I heard that people use them to format their HD to the PS2. I do not have the HDL or HDA. Do I need one of these to format my HD to the PS2 or is their another way?

WinHIP, its a very very easy tool to use and will allow you to format the hdd into a ps2 file system but it requires you to hook the Ps2 hdd to your PC and you will need a method of booting it once its formatted, i take it you have a modchip, just download a free hdloader and format it that way, sorry i don't have any information about the DMS4 EZI Pro :(
