Well guys this is the way I look at it, if you are using eMule the exact way its intended and you have speed issues this bad then you must be cursed or something :)
I praise eMule (and no im not in anyway linked to eMule) because personally I'd rather get the real releases of movies and not tmd crap thats basically kazaa! I also like downloading real files all the time instead of 6-10 like kazaa often does! I like being able to click links on websites and watch eMule download a real file instead of using websites like fasttrack movies for kazaa, a website which actually jsut indexes all video files on kazaa so when you search and download, you still might be getting fake stuff, you might aswell have just searched kazaa!
eMule and DC++ just rule over all p2p in my opinion. DC++ for dvd-r releases and eMule for VCD/SVCD. Kazaa is just not held as a great p2p app by release groups!

It can be very slow starting but be happy its not edonkey2000 you're using, geez that prog was bad for speed!
Basically I prefer quality to speed so I use eMule and DC++. Also after a few weeks I noticed a big increase in speed with eMule and I also noticed I had 1000's of known clients on my creditlist!

I use DC++ for dvd-r stuff really. I dont really use it for anything else. Everybody who shares dvd-r stuff has a fast connection speed, its almost guaranteed so the download speeds are often 120kbs+ for me :-)

I can tell you the problem with all p2p apps, they allow users to set their own upload limits. If you are downloading 3 files, then you should be uploading 3 files at the same time. Yes it will slow your download speed down, but if everyone turns off uploading, which a lot do now, then it will just turn that network into slow useless crap (emule, overnet) Yes it is GREAT that emule has real files, no fakies, that is GREAT!!! But the problem is, they dont have 1/4 the files that you can easily download from kazaa and the ones they do have has so many people with uploads off that your lucky to download it from 2 people at once, a whopping 10kbps is the max I have gotten, and I have cable and live in california, its outrageously useless! If you know what you are doing in kazaa you will not get viruses or fake files anyways. You download the files that have a lot of users and you check the filename of each one, the fake ones will always have a few titles of what the file really is.
PC gaming, its what I do

I get 80kbps of eMule average. Its easy enough to build it up! I found the best way was to go to the sharereactor forum and find the newest screener releases. Then start downloading one of them, as soon as its in your shared file list (after about 20mb) change its file priority to Release and set your upload limit tomachine limit. You will see a lot of uploading of the same file but this way, all the people who work the screener releases of sharereactor will have you in their known clients list which will give you prioity when downloading from them!
I did that for a while so as you can imagine my movie collection got huge but the point is that all the files i start downloading now give me about 10 or so sources that i can tranfer from and about 600 sources for queues. Which is great!!
