Stay far away from Memorex, they kill your laser twice as fast as any other brand, and they have a very low succes rate.
I'd advise you to get Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Ritek DVD-R's.
Some older ps2's can't play DVD+R's, and they're generally a bit harder on the laser, although just a little bit.

Yeah I've heard that Memorex's are quite awful for DVD-R's. Older PS2's have (v.4 and earlier) have a difficult time with DVD+R's. In general you're better off with DVD-R's. Click on the glossary link at the top of the page for more info on the difference. Any of the DVD-R's Daniel mentioned are very high quality. If you can't find those locally try TDK, Maxell, or Phillips. Avoid Memorex and Imitation DVD-R's like the black plague. Daniel are Memorex CD-R's poor quality as well? I have a ton of audio CD's and over 50 Memorex PSX backups. Is that gonna kill my v.4 PS2's laser quickly?

I'm in the market for a DVD burner as well. 2 things: 1st I'd avoid newegg.com as I checked bbb.com and they had several complaints against them in the last 3 years: http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expo... Second I've been told from the more knowledgeable members on this site that Sony DVD burners are very reliable, so I am definitely gonna give those a try. Liteon and BenQ have gotten good reviews as well. If money is an issue check out BenQ.
