Hi I have sat and read through loads of threads to try and find my answer but I still havent got it so I thought I would post my question. I have a new silver slimline PS2 which I have installed the soft mod switch. I know the soft mod is working because my DVDs are spinning whilst the flip lid is open. Now for my question

I bought a copy of Swap Disc of ebay. When it arrived it was DVD Version 2.0 and CD version 3.0

My problem is when I try to load a US Version of GT4 or a NTSC DVD video it wont play. Firstly when I use the DVD Swap Disc it loads up then it looks like a screen saver with loads of stars and says insert disk. So I swap the disk when it has stoppped spinning automatically and then press X. Nothing happens it just stays on this screen the DVD starts spinning slowly and you can hear the laser searching but thats as far as it gets.

Its pretty much the same for the CD Version also only I have the option of selecting video to NTSC but then when I select load program it goes red and then I just get coloured lines running down the side of the screen. Again it looks like the laser is searching anf it doesnt spin up to full speed.

Help greatly appreciated and as I say I am using american originals of GT4 and Finding Nemo

Yeah there were a number of issues with SM 2.0. Games needed the aid of a DVD loader program and cogswap loader. Some games needed patched so they would load with Swap Magic 2.0. I recommend upgrading to SM 3.6. It has a lot fewer errors and doesn't require all the extra software to run right. You can find patches for SM 2.0 at Swapmagicfix.com

I didn't see a fix for GTA 4. That and those fixes would'nt work with the v.13 slimline anyway. You have a PAL PS2 I take it? Two things. 1. Most products you get off ebay are semi functional at best. 2.Swap Magic 3.6 is a lot more user friendly and works very well. It has some problems with DVD-9 format or dual layer DVD's. Other than that it is an excellent product. You would need to order the PAL version of Swap Magic if your PS2 is in PAL format. The red screen means that your backup isn't burned correctly. Use DVD Decrypter to burn your backups. Use a good DVD-R like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, TDK, Maxell, or Phillips. Thanks Tokijin very helpful. I wasnt using a back up I was using an original american GT4 and an original copy of Finding Nemo so a bit starnge as to why I was getting a RED swap magic screen. I will just get hold of a copy of swap magic 3.6 PAL
