You wont go wrong with either chip, both are great, but I like the Infinity

I've modded 3 systems with the Infinity chip and it has worked great. I'm not going to say either one is better until the Matrix team releases their "OS". from their website it sounds like that is the next major upgrade.

I've checked a lot of matrixinfinity reseller sites and I cant get a concrete answer about whether or not the martix infinity can read, run and play DVD+R discs. So please if you own and use a modded ps2 with the matrix infinity, then please tell me if you know from experience whether or not it reads, runs, and plays DVD+R discs?
And since I'm here, for backing up ps2 games which is better DVD+R or DVD-R and are Memorex discs alright to use?

http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2#26 Yes it plays DVD-R's, no I don't have one. Memorex DVD-R's are horrible, use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, TDK, Sony, Phillips, or Maxell. Newer PS2's have better compatiblity with DVD+R's, older ones have better compatiblity with DVD-R's. I decided on the DMS 4 Pro over the matrix infinity because some people have had problems when upgrading to Matrix firmware 1.54 and have had to use 1.38 instead. Only a minority of people have had this problem. Both are excellent chips. Teammodders.com is gonna do mine. They have gotten rave reviews by all. This guy is gonna do mine:
