white specs on DVD?

i have copied a few of my dvds just to test out my DVD Burner, im using DVD X Copy and my copied versions when playing have white dots/specs flickering in random places on the screen when playing the DVD in my player.

any ideas what causes this?
any ideas on what software to use instead of DVD X Copy? (if its the softwares fault)
