I never knew about GC modding until I ran across this site. I'm really interested in playing backups of my games and running emulators, but I do have some general questions about going about this.

1. I've been hearing good things about the Qoob chip, so I'll probably be getting that. However, would it be a better idea to get just the chip package or the one with a new case? If I do get the new case, that would allow me to read normal sized DVDs, correct?

2. What emulators can be used on the GC? Is there a guide on how to get certain emulators to work, how to burn them, etc.?

I thought I had more questions, but they aren't coming to mind right now. I'll post more if I have any. Thanks for any help.

If u got patience, u would wait for a better chip.

here's something about a somekind of chip, not know if it's real, but it could have hard drive. Or if there comes some other better chip. And there is already the cheapest solution, less than 5?, chip that ONLY bypasses copy-protection. someone should just compile a file that goes to that chip...

And emulators that can used... nes, snes, n64, some sega(not familiar with that), gba. somewhere is guides, shattered around:D

The future is not set. Theres no fate but that which we make for ourselves.

Quezacotl, that thread has'nt seen any updates since april, I would highly doubt anybody is working on another chip or softmod for the gamecube right now, especially when the revolution is right around the corner.

As for you questions Itk202:

1. Yes a new aftermarket case will allow you to read regular sized dvd-r's

2. As Quezacotl said, there are many emulators that can be used, but I dont use emulators on my cube, I just burn GC games and play them, I have the PC if I want emulators
