Hang on a sec, if you just converted an xvid to vcd, then why are you trying to open the dat file in the mpegav folder??

i'm trying to open it on my pc to varify that the burning was OK.
but i have an update - though ican't open it on my PC - ican see it on the DVD player.
so the problem is only opening with media player the DAT file.

Ah Right now I see. Well the best thing to do is to open the dat file in WinDVD orsomething and it will play!

xvid to vcd= dat file? File should be MPEG1 and I recommend you use VCDEasy for burning VCD and burn no higher than 8x. Use Zoom Player 2.9 to play your file(s).

What he meant by the dat obviously is the avseq01.dat (usually) in the MPEGAV folder. He tried to use Windows Media Player to play the dat file but couldn't. I recommed WinDVD because it would autoplay the vcd anyway but even if it didn't it would have no problem playing the dat file!

I see Dela. I don't mess with VCD because the video quality really sucks. Try opening WMP and then click tools>options>file types tab folder>click select all>click apply>click ok. Now open the dat file and see if WMP will play the file. Also, you might wan't to download all updates for WMP. If WMP won't play the dat file, use WinDVD or PowerDVD.
