I've read DivX here, and the website, but how do I encode and burn?
Can I copy a DVD to the computer with DivX? And how would I burn it to a DVD5 and play it on the stand alone player?
Sorry, it's just I just kinda lost with the AVI to DVD, and whatnot.
You can encode video files (inc your dvds) with Dr. DivX which isnt free legally.
Some DVDs have encryption etc so youll need AnyDVD running to disable that whilst you encode the DVD to DivX.
You can't just burn a DivXAVI to dvd and run it on any old DVD player, as they dont support Divx/xvid..
Only Mpeg2 (DVD) video files generally.
Dr.DivX is a very good program but only if you want to use the DivX codec (which is good but i prefer xvid:) you can download a program from the software selection from this site called EasyVCD, it will allow you to rip the needed Vobs from the DVD so that you can add the files to Dr.DivX but you can also use a program called DVD2AVI which is kinda the same as Dr.DivX but you get to choose the codec you like the most.
For Divx to DVD i would use either VSO's DivxToDVD (there is a free version on this site) or Nero Vision Express (NVE is not free).
I know I can't just play a DivX Disc on anywhere, you need a DivX player. But I was just wondering since I have the create package from DivX (when it went free for a day), can I rip the DVD with that, or use DVD Decrypter?
You have to find the vobs that contain the movie, there is normally 3-5 vobs that are bigger than the rest there the movie files the rest might be menus/extras. you should use EasyVCD as that rips the vobs that are needed then ya just select the vobs to convert.
i have SONY NS52P player and i have burnt some cd's with XviD format which does not play on my sony ns52p player....!!!!!! it seems like the player only plays old DivX formats and NOT the new XviD format cd's so CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME HOW AND WHAT TO DO SO I CAN PLAY THESE MOVIES ON MY SONY PLAYER...!!!!
WTF man, that was uncalled for. Sure, he didnt ask his question very maturely, but you shouldnt go blow him off. Its actually better that he posts in an existing thread. At least he is a newb that knows what he is doing.
@Desi420 You are probably right, your DVD player only supports Divx and not Xvid. You will need to encode your files to Divx and then burn them how you normally do.
