burning 85 min. dv stream - Apple 4.7GB (4X) DVD

what's the best way to put a full length 85 min. dv stream movie onto a 4.7 GB DVD? the files size is at 17 GB right now. the software is have is iDVD, DVD Studio Pro, and Toast. i need to know how to compress it so it will fit and play in a DVD player without substanstially losing av quality. does anyone know the best way to do this on a mac? can it even be done?
