Could someone tell me why cant you copy dvds directly (the video part) to the cdrw like cds can do

You can burn directly to cd-rw from dvd. Sort of. I rip the dvd first to my hard-drive. Then I use video editing software to get rid of sound tracks I don't wan't. Then I lower the quality to something like vcd so it will all fit on a cd-rw. The I burn...Quality is about 75% of original. Unless you want a dvd burner then use deccs or something for better quality.

Dawayne: Because CD holds max 800MB of data (80min CD) and DVD movie, even when all the trailers and other crap have been removed, takes normally 4-9GB.

Obvious?

YOU CAN but its gonna make a vcd...i know "dvd dup" does it and so do some others..and its gonna look like crap..its better to do it as mentioned above..rip it yourself, edit and encode it...better quality.
