Help I can't burn old work to DVD

I'm working at a small operation cable station using Mac G5's with Mac OSX. We're having serious problems with drive space due to old episodes of our shows. We have about 30 shows each anywhere from 7GB's to 15GB's converted to quicktime. I'm converting these files using Final Cut Pro. We have IDVD for dvd burning software. I would like to find out how to either properly compress these files to store as data or burn the actual programs onto the DVD for a pop and play type of deal. I know that it can hold over the 4.7 gig limit through compression but how do I acheive this with IDVD? Should I get different software? Any advice to send me in the right direction would help.

you should be able to make a disk image out of FCP or IDVD for that matter.. if you are using external burners you may need to get
patch burn..

if they are PowerMacs then you should be able to do that on the internal superdrives.

you should be able to burn that as data with disk utility.. or you should be able to burn the actual episodes out of fcp or idvd.

i would suggest of course external HDs.
