Wich DVD CDs/Burners are best for PS2 Backup?

This is probably a regular noob question, but Im about to buy a new DVD Burner ( my old went KA-BOOM ) and Im wondering, wich DVD Discs and Burners are best for backing up and burning PS2 Games...?

I mean is there anything special I should be looking out for when buying DVD-R Discs and Burners that might efect the PS2 Burning?

any DVD burner should work really, i am sure some are
better than others and you will get many different answers.
I have a Sony DRU-700A and love it, it worked so well my friend
bought a Sony DRU-710A and he loves his too.
I have seen good things about BenQ and NEC burners
Also Pioneer burners are said to work really good.

Best type of DVD's:
Philips,TDK,Verbatim Datalife,Taiyo Yuden, Ritek G04
I like 8X DVD-R myself.

I have a Pioneer DVR-109 and ive made over 100 successfull backups this not only includes PS2 Games, Xbox Game, Pc Games but also movies as well. But in my opinion it all comes down to the media you use, Just as Steimy said Verbatim Datalife,Taiyo Yuden, Ritek G04, these are really good media. I also use Sony 8x DVD -R they work all the time :P.

Does the Pioneer dvr-109 burn Maxell DVD+R (made in japan) successfully for your ps2? Which model ps2 do you have?

ive been using a pioneer 108d for ages and no probs i have burned games at 12x on 8x disks and worked ok
also poineer 107 at 8x
