Whenever I copy I always check on my PC that it has taken and it always has. However, when I play it indoors on my DVD player whilst some do play, others are either rejected without indication of the reason, some play a little and then stop and others do not get beyond the 'Reading' stage. I try more than one to play but usually the result is the same.

I use Verbatim disks on a Dell Dimension 3000 PC. As I say, when I then put the discs back into my PC all is well.

Apart from taking my PC into the living room [not an option] is there anything I can do - e.g. buy another DVD player?

It more than likely the discs that your are burning +R or -R? Which one is it, and I am guessing that your INDOOR DVD player does not accept those dics. What is the make and model of you DVD burner?

If you are using DVD+R and your burner will allow bitset change the book type to dvd-rom and more than likely they will play in your player.

Oh, dear. I thought that we could keep this exchange at Noddy sorry, Novice level!

I don't know what 'booktyped to DVD-ROM' means.

Would it be easier if I were to bin one or other of the two types of DVD [RW or R] and start again. If so which one should I bin? I suppose that it is not possible to re-copy from the bad type [RW or R] onto a good type [RW or R]?

Or should I try to change the bitset [to what?]

These questions of mine will show you the level of my competence in these matters.

petgord,

You could definitely copy your copied disc to a format that your DVD player will accept, but do you know what it will accept?

I know that Philips makes a 8701 DVD series, but I wonder if that is really the model of the drive? To be sure you could check by opening up Device Manager, and it should say for sure.

Regards,

Rich
