i have a V7 PS2 and i got the flip top for it along with the swapmagic 3.6 discs. when i tried installing the fliptop there was a square plastic inside the ps2 with a yellow sticker that says *CAUTION* Laser radiation when open-Do NOT stare into beam. I had to take that off in order to be able to hookup the flip top. Did I do the right thing?

Also where can i find information on how to use the swap magic disks?
a guide that teaches how to use them or something

Thanks

yes, you take that piece off. Did you take the white circular piece and put it in the fliptop?

To use swap magic, you just load it (cd version or dvd version depending on what backup your using). When swap magic loads, open the fliptop, swap for your backup game and hit x (probably says load program on the screen).

yes, cd for cd's, dvd for dvd's. Also, even thought the top came with a white piece, you still might want to use the 1 that was in your ps2 (stronger magnet).

Do you mean you burned Swap Magic to a disk, or your backup game? Use DVD Decrypter: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html Burn at 1x, 2x, then 4x until it works. What version PS2 do you have? Check here: http://www.chipzone.com/versions.cfm If it's not here you either have v.11 or the slim v. 12 and 13.

What game are you trying to burn? What brand DVD+R are you using?

Yeah I know people have backed this game up. Try changing speeds. Sony should be fine. From JDilla:
rebuilding the game will only get you a black screen.. trust me guys.
this is how i got socom 3 to work.
Dvd Decrypter, iso read, Iso Write @ 2x, burned the first copy at 4x and got a slow loading socom 3 game. 2x is the key i believe, and good media.
i used fujifilm DVD-R and loaded it up via cogswap.

Hi,
When using the Flip Top Lid make sure you insert your disc of choice 1st - Cd or DVD. When the screen display says to Load disc, open the lid only - do not open the CD drawer to insert the game. Close the lid after swapping the discs and then press X on your controller. The border around the screen should turn Blue. If it's Red or any other colour you'll need to try again. If you have been opening the drawer between swaps this resets the Playstation.

Cheers

Yeah, red screen usually means bad burn. He's probably using it correctly, Swap Magic is pretty simple. This is a burn issue %90 of the time.
