Make sure they are not memorex blanks!

Check out the memorex web site,your burner's firmware may need updated.

What is the brand name and speed rate of those DVD-R?

I purchased verbatim DVD-R discs. I also did update firmware, with no success. The weird thing is that I can burn onto DVD-RW discs, as well as dvd+rw's.
