We'll the v.12 laser is fickle, you may need a new laser or laser fix. Does it load anything?

well..this is a long story.
i installed dms4lite w/ neofix about 7-8 months ago, everything was fine until recently it stopped reading discs after i played "burn out revenge".
i've replaced the entire laser block and it was alive~ however, it did not live through another "burn out revenge" game play..that little sucker burned again once more. (well, i wasnt exactly sure if the laser was burnt cuz the laser still lights up but the disc spins very slowly. everything was fine during the game play, it actually died while i'm shutting off the ps2...)
then i've attempted to install the infamous summ0ne's fix with another new laser block, unfortunately, things went worse this time. it actually had a electrical burning smell comming from laser after i powered it on...(yeah, my ps2 is cursed)
later on i just tried to desolder everything including the chip, put in a new laser unit(only that laser part, not the whole block), ps2 turns on and laser goes on, but disc just doesnt spin at all~
yeah, this is the end of my ps2 story.. thx for reading~

Yeah I'd say either send it to a pro if you've got the money, or you may need a new PS2. New PS2's don't grow on trees. If you're interested in sending it to a pro, PM me and I'll give you the email address of a top notch guy.

Yeah I don't blame ya. I'll PM the email address of that guy I was talking about. He'll give you a quote and he's real friendly. I'm gonna send him my PS2 to get a chipped with a DMS 4 Pro as soon as Hurricane Wilma passes over. He's done plenty of work for people on this site and can be trusted.

Hey Tokijin

Ive got a similar problem with my japanese slimline ps2...I bought one recently off a friend that was pre installed. He said how the chip was supposedly a matrix infinity and it turned out to be a fake after i tried updating the bios... So now ive got a non working chipped ps2. It only accepts Jap games as its japanese but no longer allows copies... Im looking for a pro to install a new chip for me but cant seem to find one, but seeing as you know a person that can do it, it would be great if u can post me his email too... Does he take ps2 from other countries?...cos im from the UK and im guessing this guy lives in America...

first off you need to check the resistors that you applied the Summ0ne fix to, i think you have burnt one of them, if you have a volt meter check all 4 resistors and see if yo get the right value.

Well it's against forum rules to post email addresses, but I'll PM the email address to you. I just sent my PS2 to get chipped with a DMS 4 Pro today. The DMS 4 and the Matrix Infinity are the 2 best modchips, hands down. If you want a low budget solution that works well, try the Duo2SE. Here's some general modchip info: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2
