Can I run ISOs from an internal PC drive?

Or will I need to buy an external USB HD.
Sorry, I'm new to this. I searched these forums quite well but can see no mention of this.

If I made backups to my internal HD, is there any way I could have the PS2 play them from there? This is what I'm aiming to do but haven't started buying the applicable hardware or software yet.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Yes if your computer has a IDE Port where you can plug in a second Hard Drive you can put .iso files into the hard drive but the computer won't be able to read the hard drive because its formatted in PS2 Format where then you will need WINIIP or what ever it is.. am sure sombody will tell you... just look for PC to PS2 thing.
