im very frustrated from reading all these guides and still not being able to figure out how to do this. I don't mind not being able to play online so do i still have to patch the dnas codes? i tried burning it without patching it and it got to the load screen but then froze and i didn't find any of those garbage files. I downloaded iso buster and disc id insertor and found the dnas codes in the game. Im tryin to find disc id utility and if anyone could show me wehere to get that would be a great help. How do i patch the dnas codes and is there any other programs i need? also will this make the game work?

It might help if you gave us more info on how you burned the game. ie what program you used to burn, what speed and media, etc...and what mod are you using to play your backups?

Ok first off, you don't have to burn at 1x... I know some people on here say that that's the way to go, but believe me it's not always best. I ahve backed up around 120+ games since I came on here and most of them are backed up at 4x or higher.
I would suggest using the TY discs and burning at 4x. remember to switch off all non-essential programs when burning, including internet etc.
You don't need to patch the dnas codes if you don't want to go online.
What game is it you're trying to back-up? if it doesn't need a rebuild then just use DVD Decrypter in iso read mode and then use iso write mode to burn the mds file.. or use Nero to burn the iso file... both at 4x.

good luck, and let me know how you got on ok?

To check if it needs a rebuild or not, the easiest way is to use the search bar at the top of the forum. Just put in the name of the game you are trying to backup and search the threads it lists for ps2 dvd backup forum. By the way, sorry for not noticing that you already told me the name of the game you're trying to backup.. burnout, but which one is it? the latest one burnout revenge?

If so, then shouldn't need a rebuild.

Just noticed that you said your TY discs are 4x... It should still be ok to burn at 4x on them, but if it doesn't work try 2x. Might be worth your while getting some 8x discs and burning future games at 4x or 6x on them. I would always recommend using dvd-r discs, but that's because most models of ps2 will play them with no probs if they are a good brand like TY or ritek.

let me know how you got on ok?

[edit] - Actually if you're using a modchip, I don't think you need to rebuild ANY games unless they are dvd-9 (dual layer). Sorry it's really getting late here and been a long day, concentration not what it should be at the moment... will answer any other questions you have when I get up tomorrow..need my bed badly man.

good luck
