Newbie Having Problems with Nero Menu Screens. Help?

I'm trying to make VCDs on Nero. Using the guide I found on here, I tried to make a menu screen using the tutorial, but mine seems to want to put white boxes around the header, footer, and the item for selection.

TVs don't like the lines and they wobble like crazy when I put the disc in. The lines aren't on the tutorial screen caps, and I can't seem to get Nero to get rid of them.

Any help on this front?
