hey peeps,

was wondering if any of you helpful guys and gals could help.

i've just bought hex series 1 (region 2) and i cant rip it at all. just comes with errors out of memory, un readable error etc with dvd shrink. dvd decryptor doesnt like it either, bombs out at 3%.
however dvdfab will rip it to disk, but when i use shrink to compress, i get the same errors that i got trying straight from disk

anydvd gets the digest fine etc.

i can back up anything else i've thrown at the computer but it just doesnt like hex series 1 - this problem is with all 3 disks of the series.

this is the 2nd set of this series i've had off play.com. when i got the first one i just thought i had a dodgy boxset, sent it back and they replaced it for me, but now i'm getting the same errors with this set as well.

now is there a different protection on this or have i just been damn unlucky and got 2 sets that are knackered.

thx in advance for any help or suggestions given

Hello,

Had the same problem - neither DVDShrink nor DVDDecrypter worked. Some kind of new copy protection.

However, I first used the free version of DVDFab Decrypter to rip the disc to my hard drive

www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

Now simply open the folder saved to your hard drive with DVDShrink, shrink it to 4.7 and off you go! Worked for me.

Let me know how you get on!

hey kavakava,

thx for that, never used the fabdvd b4 as i've never needed it, but just done all 3 disks now and it worked a treat, thx for the help m8.

i agree with you on the protection side of it, must be a new variation. and since hex is a uk series, thats why it hasnt cropped up on the big US releases, thus catching us off guard.

thx again for your help
