i have just backed up ssx tour for the ps2 and then loaded it using swap magic disc's 2.0.

the game works fine but it is in black and white...any suggestions?

Patch it with Adrenaline patcher: http://www.megagames.com/ps2/ps2_utils_files.shtml or PAL2NTSC patcher with Y fix: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/121718 alternate download: http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php? I believe Adrenaline patcher is specifically for EA games.

What about your TV? Usually the game being in black and white is a video format mismatch. People have had this problem and patched it, and it resolved the issue.

i don't think the tv is the problem as i can play NTSC and PAL dvds on it ok.

somebody has suggested i get the latest version of the swap magic discs?

That isn't a bad idea. Try patching it with Adreanline Patcher. You can find it here:http://www.megagames.com/ps2/ps2_utils_files.shtml I'm not %100 positive you have the correct video format for this game. If the patch doesn't work, then worry about upgrading to SM 3.6.

From Fluper: After you get the patcher, open it, browse for the ISO file, and then choose the option .PAL>NTSC. Make sure you don't choose undo PAL>NTSC

After that it'll search for locations to patch....it should fine some or at least one. It'll prompt you to proceed, so just say yes.

Then you're done. just burn the game with the burner of your choice.
