Do you need a fliptop to use swapmagic 3.6 for PS2?

Thanks for any advice. I am a newbie to this and would like to modify my ps2 to play my backed up copies of games. I understand how to use dycrypter, however do I need a flip-top for using swapmagic or can I use the sliding out original disc holder?

if you have an older chunky PS2 you can use:
Swap Magic and a slidecard (the harder way)
Swap Magic and a flip top (the easy way)

on the slim PSTwo you can use
Swap Magic and an aftermarket flip top
Swap Magic & a slimtool/magic switch/ghost switch(all 3 do the same)

these are needed because the PS2 resets when yo open the drawer or original fip top. This will not allow you to swap discs.

thanks stymie, I saw how to put in a flip top but it seems that it is a hassle and i wouldn't want to break something. But if you saw the slide is more cumbersome then the fliptop is what i will go with.

The Slide Card is not that bad.
I only started using a Flip Top because my eject button was broken and my oldest son didnt know how to use a slide card with the backup games I got him. To make a long story short, only use a flip top if you have to.
A Slide Card is not that diff.
