I recently installed a matrix infinity in my PS2 and it wont read backups (cd humming). It will read originals just fine. On boot up I get a "MATRIX" logo on the screen then the normal playstation screen with "browser" and "system config". I can go into the matrix config menu but when I try to disable the chip the screen goes blank. I have tried memorex, sony, and TDK media using DVD Decrypter, and copy2dvd with the same results. The version of software that came on the chip is 1.50 And I have tried to install 1.54 using nero's option of "make a data disk" and it wont read that either. My chip is EXACTLY like the one on the matrix team site (not a clone). I have also checked my wires for continuity with a meter. I dont know if its a problem with the burns, mod installation, mod chip, software version, or ????. Any advice would help...I've run out of options...THANXS.. and thanks to everyone that keep this site going!

Well I'm not positive, but if it's anything like the DMS 4 Pro, basically you need to burn the flash CD like a PSX game. In Nero 6 Open up Nero Burning Rom. Go to Recorder --> Burn Image--> Insert your blank disc and set the write method to disc at once and the write speed no higher than 4x. Click burn and your backup should be ready in 20 mins or so. A member named Glitched is a lot more familiar with the infinity than I am. It is a quality chip for sure, but I decided on the DMS 4 Pro because it didn't have as many issues with the flashing. Thought the DMS 4 doesn't support the PS2 media player. Also there are clones of the Matrix Infinity called "modbos." If you flash the chip make sure you have an authenic Matrix Infinity. Flashing the modbo destroys it from what I've read. From official Matrix site:
- NOTE : You can always recover from a bad flash with the following procedure:
Put Upgrade CD into PS2 and put PS2 into standby.
Press "reset button" and keep pressed until blue light turn ON (on V1-V11).
(For the V12 press reset button from standby for 2-3 seconds as there is no blue light).
Leave "reset button" and Upgrade CD will boot.
Follow on-screen instructions to complete the Upgrade procedures

finally got it working! After many coasters and taking apart my PS2 five times it was a stupid mistake on my part. Bad media and the wrong write speed caused this headache. Thanks!!!
