MS 3.6 switch Part c

I have the ps2 slim line, and recently bought the MS 3.6 with switch, thing is i got the old switch series where part c is the old big part c, and there is no part d, im pretty sure ive got 1 of the old models of the slim. ive installed parts a and c perfectly, and am able to install part c in the gap between the opening of the lid. the problem is that with everything in place,the discs wont spin with the lid open they only spin if i take part c out and close the lid, and then when the load screen comes up it says all other discs arent ps2 disc.
Can you please help me with this problem.
