Crosspost. I wanted to get this out to the Mac community:
Keep all menus, subtitles, etc. I've been experimenting with all the programs mentioned here, and really don't want to get into Photoshop, DVD Studio Pro etc. Here's what you need:
1. OSX 10.2.3 or above.
2. Virtual PC 6
3. DVD Backup 1.3 (This is for OSX)
4. Toast 5.2 Titanium
5. DVDXCopy from 321 Studios (PC Program for Win 98 and above).
Bear with me. Most of you already own the Mac programs, but DVDXCopy costs $80 to download. Yes, I paid for it. No, you can't have it.
Here we go:
1. Create a shared folder on the Mac desktop called "PC Folder" or whatever.
2. Launch Virtual PC 6, and install DVDXCopy. Follow directions.
3. Insert DVD in DVD-R drive on Mac.
4. Make sure your "Z" drive in virtual PC is "PC Folder" as mentioned above. Use share folder feature in Virtual PC.
5. Launch DVDXCopy. Choose your "Z" Drive as your destination. Virtual PC is too small to save these big files, thus you need to save them to the Mac desktop.
6. Follow directions of DVDXCopy. It will save the first "VIDEO_TS" Folder to your "PC Folder."
7. When it is done, DVDXCopy will want to burn using it's own engine, or a program called "Nero." Ignore this!
8. DVDXCopy now realizes that you DO NOT HAVE a DVD-R drive, because it isn't supported by Virtual PC. Don't Panic!
9. DVDXCopy will say "Can't find Drive Info" when it is done with disc one. This is important: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CLICK "OK"! Or, you will delete your work in your "PC Folder" on the desktop!
10. Switch to the OSX desktop and drag the "VIDEO_TS" Folder out of the "PC Folder" and place it on the desktop. It is now safe. DVDXCopy considered that folder a "temp" folder and if you clicked "OK" above, it would have delted it!
11. Now switch back to DVDXcopy and click "OK!" Yes, it's okay now!
12. Start over in DVDXcopy and select "skip disc one" in your options.
13. DVDXCopy will now repeat the steps above, placing the "VIDEO_TS" folder for disc 2 in the "PC Folder." When it is done, don't click "OK." Drag its "VIDEO_TS" Folder to the desktop, preferrably into a folder labeled "Disk Two" so you won't overwrite disk one!
14. Almost done.
15. Since you bypassed the DVDXcopy burn engine, and Nero, you need to decrypt the "Video_TS" folders. Do this in DVD Backup 1.3.
16. Burn each subsequent "VIDEO_TS" folder in Toast.
You're done!
It's a lot easier than you think. Don't be intimidated by my directions. I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff, and that was easy! No dabbling in IFOEdit or anything like that!!!
Total time in DVDXcopy is about an hour for both disks.
Now, there is one drawback with DVDXcopy: It places a disclaimer at the beginning of your disks. Now, is there someone out there who knows how to remove this?
