Question on using different DVD makes for PS2 games, Please help?

Hi,
Are the different makes of DVD-R more compatible than others to the extent that it will actually not work after a complete correct burning?
The thing is i have used so many DVD-R Philips to back up my PS2 games and non of them worked they are imeddiatly rejected by my PS2 [ not a valid PS2 disk] but when using (RiDisk) DVD-R the backed up game(Digital devil 2)worked fine. The problem is i only have one of them RiDisc and need to buy more but is there a diffrence or was is just luck?

Yes there is a big difference. It could be argued that good media is the number one factor in making quality PS2 backups. The best that I have used are Taiyo Yuden. These are top quality discs, and never have had a bad burn yet. Supermediastore.com is a reliable source for them. If you must buy from a store, find something made in Japan. Otherwise it generally is crap.
