I am trying to back up Cunning Stunts with Shrink, but shrink is not able to compress the first disk enough to fit in 4464 MB. The reason being, there is 4 other title 1 with different angles each about 4100 MB. If I could eliminate these extra camera angles everything else would fit nicely. I would like to keep the disk (with menu and extras) the way it is minus the multi-angle files. Is there a way to do this in shrink or another free program? How about ripping with decrypter? Is there a way to rip without the multi-angle files? I see in the File Mode tab in settings there is a box for multi angle processing. I had this unchecked during the rip. Will checking the box only take the first angle? Please help.
you are talking about metallica's cunning stunts, right?if so i have this dvd and all you have to do is go into the settings of shrink and set the compression to 4000mb.select edit>preference then set the compression.

Yeah, it's metallica's cunning stunts. I have the compression to 4464 Mb but it is still not able to compress enough. There is four folders on the left side of shrink. On the right side, the compression sliders are all the way to the left at their highest compression settings while in automatic. The compression bar at the top is still showing red with about 600 Mb to compress yet I can't adjust the sliders down any further. If I get rid of the dolby 2.0 that will take another 314 Mb off. If I keep just the dolby 5.1, will the soundtrack default to dolby 2.0 if played on a system with only 2.0 sound? I'm not sure about this part.
Thanks
There is a setting in Decrypter for multi-angle processing. Go into your Tools Tab then Settings and then the File Mode Tab and you will see the Multi-Angle box on the right, check this and then tell it to retain angle 1. See if this works.
cheers for this thread, Cunning Stunts is one of the first DVD's i ever bought (years ago i used to have to order Region 1 stuff specially, as i'm in UK ie Region 2) and it's about time i backed it up. i shall read thru the thread properly later. I had better backup their S&M concert too. Both are awesome DVD's...
dont mess with the sliders.go to the top of the DVD Shrink interface where it says EDIT and click on it.then go down to PREFERENCES and click on it.that is your settings.you can type in 4000mb as the default compression ratio.you can also search for the option to take out layer breaks somewhere in the settings menu.once set the next time you open up the dvd it should compress to 4000mb or as close to it as it possibly can.i did this to this movie and it came out fine.
I tried setting multi-angle processing to angle 1 and burned both in File mode and ISO mode and neither left me with a functioning file to burn to DVD. Since the compression is about 600 Mb in the red with compression at about 59% for the title, menu and extras, I just decided to burn the concert only on disk 1. The second disk (no multi-angle scenes) was small enough that I was able to copy the whole thing as is without compressing. This is the first time I have come across multi-angle formats and I hope it is the last. IMO, the extra angles are just a waste of Mb's.
