Ps2 reset button turns my ps2 off cause i have a hdd?

Since i got my maxtor 120GB HDD my ps2 reset button turns my ps2 to standby rather than reseting it, (and i am not holding it either),one press and my ps2 goes on stand by.....
(only during a ps2 game) it does not do this at ps2 main menu,
i have the matix infinity modchip, it did not do this before i got HDD installed.
SOmeone please helpme, im scared its damaging my ps2 every time i wonna change games....

Yeah i been having that hard drive for a 1yr now and it does that because it resets the hard drive also so yeah it's not a problem it's normal
