Hello Guys,im new to the board,but i have done alot of reading on backing up my own copys,i finally got a chance to back up my copy of SA,but i also read files over 3.5GB need rebuilding,so i did all of that now it doesnt play on my ps2,i used memorex Dvd-r at 1x speed,and my swap magic says invalid ps2 disc,could it be my disc,i did a copy of my madden 06 on a memorex Dvd+r and it works fine,and solutions?

Memorex aren't said to be a good brand of DVD's. However you did make a good choice by choosing DVD-R. Tryr to get your hands on some Verbitam DVD-R. I did so and I now burn at 4x and never get any problems.

I don't know where you read that games over 3.5gb's need rebuilding..but it's wrong. The games have to be over 4.37gb's to need rebuilding in most cases.
Also, I would definitely get better media as jin666 said, and maybe burn a bit faster too... I would try 4x on 8x media. Can't remember if I rebuilt GTA SA to be honest, it was so long ago now.

Agrees with Paddymail, the cutoff for rebuilding is usually 4.37GB's. GTA:SA is around 4.2GB's. Use DVD Decrypter to burn at 1x, 2x, or 4x until it works. Here's a guide: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html

for gta sa you need very good DVD+R disk s it like a dvd alway loading off he disk and dvd + wirks better for this than -
it is just a straight copy

Well that's also affected by which version PS2 you have. V.1-4 don't read DVD+R's well, if at all. V.5-8 are 50/50, and v.8 and later tend to work better with DVD+R's.

GTA: San Andreas is nothing special -- this can be done easily via DVD Decrypter to Mode, ISO, Read R to your hard drive. Once it's successfully completed, put a high quality media such as genuine Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell "Made In Japan", TDK (use only the DVD-R), pick the MDS file, and again, Mode, ISO, Write W (set your speed from anywhere 2X - 4X) and burn it (now stay away from your computer and do not touch the computer or don't multi-tasks.

So in summary:

- Mode, ISO, Read R --> to your hard drive and wait until it's completed
- Mode, ISO, Write W --> pick MDS file and put a good media disc inside your dvd burner and burn them at no higher than 4X. That's it... enjoyed it!!
