Mac Help with iso's and mod chips

Hi all, first post so don't own me :) i have searched but have become really confused so i decided to post. normally my m8 with a pc does all my games for me but that was at uni which i have finished now, and he does not know anything about macs....

i downloaded a game which came as a rar file, i extracted that fine and it gave me a folder which by the looks of it is the game cd, it looks the same as when i insert other ps2 games into my mac, now i tried burning this dvd as it was, i.e dragging the folder to a blank dvd and inserting that into the ps2 but nothing happens, the ps2 has been chipped by the way, i do not know the name of the chip as it was about 3 years ago, so after that dvd didn't work i started reading up and apparently i have to convert that folder into an iso then burn that iso to dvd or 'bust' that iso and burn the folder it extracts, this will remove some blocks that a chipped ps2 needs to have removed to be able to read the disks, is that right? as i said i have no idea but have searched and become confused, i am also using a mac and am finding it almost impossible to find software to create iso's. any help would be great especially from a mac literate person who can tell me what software to use! just to recap i hae a 'game cd' in a folder on my desktop which when i burn does not work in my chipped ps2, it sees the disc and says ps2 disc but when i try to run it, it comes back to the menu, please help as this game is not available in england for another year yet!
