Hi I wanted to know if anyone here's got a guide to soldiering. I want to get a matrix inf. chip. Is it something that's really complicated or can I do it immediatly after reading a guide? Cause if it's really hard i'll just pay a guy to do it for me.

Hi
If you have never solderd before i would reccomend practising on old circuit boards you may have laying around. You need the proper gear before even thinking of soldering your PS2 which will cost about £40- $70, and plenty of pataince, it is not for the faint hearted!! If you are in the uk i would reccomend http://www.modchipsireland.com/ ive had a version 8 and slimline PS2 chipped by him along with my xbox, first class job every time.
If your still interested in doing it yourself check out here http://www.southgatearc.org/guides/soldering.htm. You will also need to know your version of ps2 before you start, then get the install guide from the matrix site
GOOD LUCK!!

I gave up on my install, as it was too much hassle.

Where are you located?

In the UK you can get it fitted for about £35 including return delivery, turnaround is about 3 days.

I'd just pay someone to install it for you. Soldering is very easy to screw up in a PS2 because the pins on the chips are so close to each other. If you had soldering experience before then yeah, go ahead and install your own chip. But as a first time project I would highly recommend against it.

You can also get a solderless chip like the DMS4 and install that yourself. It clips onto your existing cpu and bios like lego.
