alright i must be stupid or something got a dvd recorder emerson when i got back from iraq. got alot of time to kill to heal. bought this stupid machine emerson ewr20v4 and every disc i bought when i insert it says error will not playback on this machine tried good disc sony maxel even tried tilo nothing if anyone can help i sure could use it to find out if a special disc is required

Welcome back, ghost. You need to be more careful to only post once. We'll try to work this out with you but ya gotta obey the rules ...

Your machine needs discs that are marked -R or -RW ... discs that are +R or +RW will NOT work ...

thank you but i am using DVD-R disc and still the error comes up saying may not playback and when i try to record anyway it will not do it

If you have a Best Buy near you .. this week they have Fuji discs on sale for $9.99/25 .. Look for some that say 'made in Japan' on the outer wrap .. these are Taiyo Yuden made discs and are top notch ..

TIP: You may have to look through the stacks to find the made in Japan discs .. and sometimes if they don't have them with all the discs, they will have them up front near the cashiers or customer service area.

If these won't work with your Emerson, nothing will .. at that point, I'd take it back and exchange it
