Did a bunch of searching and reading of the FAQ's/stickies but couldn't find any info. I'm trying to make a copy of a dvd for a friend made with a home dvd recorder (dvd+rw disk). Using CloneCD, I have no problems making copies of the dvd+rw disk onto dvd+r's. But since my friends dvd player can't read dvd+r disks, I was trying to make a copy for him on a dvd-r disk.

Using an NEC3520 (DVD+/-RW DL), I get an error telling me:

not enough space on target medium
Space required:4482MB
Space available:4482MB

The dvd-r media is a Maxell and DVD Identifier=ritek G05.
Can anyone shed some light no why it's not able to copy????
Is it because I'm trying to copy info from a +r disk onto a -r disk?? Thank you in advance.

I guess you have confused me. Are you using CloneCD or CloneDVD?

I am not sure about the program CloneCD as I would think that that would be used for Audio reproduction and not DVD (although I may be wrong on this). Anyone out there care to shed some light on this issue.

You could always download DVDdecrypter and DVDshrink and use them to burn the data to the disc.

I would recommend that you reset your target size to 4300 as the 4482 would burn to close to the edges of the media and will more than likely cause problems such as pauses and jerks.

Be patient, others will respond, hopefull I will learn something as well.

I'm using CloneCD. CloneDVD doesn't seem to like the disk layout made with my RCA (home) recorder so I guess it only works well with store purchased movie dvd's?? Well, it turns out my laptop was able to make an image from the DVD+RW and then burn it onto a DVD-R using Alcohol. Still can't figure out why my desktop is having problems. Oh well.....
